European streaming service Viaplay exclusively premieres the U.S. debut of haunting crime drama Irreversible on Thursday, August 13 with two episodes per week. With a compelling mix of character-driven storytelling and suspense, Irreversible follows a psychologist and inspector as they investigate the death of a teenage girl who was bullied by her schoolmates. Praised for its emotional depth and visual intensity, the six-part series resonates far beyond its Portuguese setting, making it a powerful and universally relevant story. Nominated for ‘Best Series’ at the Portuguese equivalent to the Oscars (Sophia Awards) and winner of ‘Best Fiction/Entertainment’ at the Portuguese Golden Globes as well as nominated for ‘Best Actress’. Irreversible also won the NiT Public Vote 2025 Award for Best National Fiction Production of the Year.

Set in a seaside town in Portugal, a tormented psychologist, Júlia Mendes, and an inspector, Pedro Sousa, unite to solve a brutal homicide involving a young girl. As they unravel the crime, they battle their own personal demons and strive to keep their lives intact. In a town where everyone hides something and is willing to do anything to protect their loved ones, the quest for truth may cost more than Júlia imagines. Once the secrets of the past are revealed, everything becomes irreversible - and the central question remains: Does love justify everything?

Directed and written by Bruno Gascon, one of Portugal’s most acclaimed filmmakers (Shadow, Carga, Boy), Irreversible brings together a powerful ensemble cast led by Portuguese Golden Globes ‘Best Actress’ nominee Margarida Vila-Nova (Pages of Life, The Good Girls Club) and award-winning actor Rafael Morais (Magellan, A Cup of Coffee and New Shoes On).
