Coming up on the Viaplay Poland add-on subscription channel, subscribers can look forward to a steady stream of series and films. Up first, following its recent Polish premiere at the BNP Paribas Warsaw SerialCon festival, the highly anticipated Polish comedy drama series Udar (The Stroke) starring Jacek Poniedziałek debuts on Tuesday, 17 December with all eight episodes available to binge.

After a stroke, Jacek (Jacek Poniedziałek) has to ask some tough questions, including: how do you fulfil your dreams after they’ve already come true? Jacek, a vibrant foodie, gay man, and Warsaw bon vivant, stars in his own popular TV food show. Surrounded by a cast of eccentric friends and harboring self-destructive tendencies, his life unfolds in a dramedy that playfully satirizes Poland’s artistic elite—those who see Warsaw as “the only real Polish city.”

Unlike anything else on television, this unique series is the brainchild of playwright and screenwriter Paweł Demirski. From the start, Demirski set out to create a character who defies the modern-day burnout culture—a wildly passionate figure who truly believes that the best is yet to come.

Gerald Biart, Viaplay Group, VP Partnership, Growth & Marketing: “With launches in the U.S., U.K., and Germany earlier this year on Prime Video Channels, Viaplay Content Distribution is thrilled to continue to expand this partnership with Viaplay’s availability as an add-on subscription in Poland. With Prime Video Channel’s user-friendly platform, Polish viewers can easily add-on the Viaplay SVOD channel to watch all their favorite international series and films, including Nordic series like The Bridge, Wisting and Gåsmamman and American series like S.W.A.T., NCIS: Hawaii, and The Good Doctor, as well as the upcoming exclusive debut of Polish comedy drama Udar (The Stroke).

Vanda Rapti, Viaplay Group EVP, Viaplay Select & Content Distribution: As previously announced, while Viaplay Group will focus on the Nordics and the Dutch market and exit Poland as a broad and leader in sports streamer in 2025, Viaplay Content Distribution will collaborate with partners through Viaplay Select and the SVOD channels in key markets to ensure our impressive international films and series inventory can continue to be viewed in other parts of the world.  Poland will remain a key market for our content distribution business and our international SVOD channel. Furthermore, our film and series offering is currently available in the market through our existing partners and distribution means until mid-2025 and will continue after that via Prime Video Channels and other partners.”

Customers in Poland will have the opportunity to experience the Viaplay add-on subscription channel on Prime Video via Prime Video Channels starting with a free 7-day trial for eligible customers and no extra apps to download and no cable required.

After Norway’s Oscar Breakthrough: 6 Norwegian Series U.S. Audiences Shouldn’t Miss

With Norway newly in the global spotlight following its first Academy Award win for Sentimental Value, attention is turning to the country’s broader storytelling boom—particularly in television, where in the last few years, Norwegian creators have been quietly producing some of Europe’s most compelling and distinctive series.   Nordic-focused streamer Viaplay offers a slate of standout Norwegian titles that showcase the country’s range and ambition. Available to binge now:   The Fortress – “Smartly written… thrillingly fast-paced” (TIME) and “Supremely satisfying” (Houston Chronicle) | Led by Tobias Santelmann (Netflix’s Harry Hole) and Russell Tovey and winner of Best Screenplay at Series Mania, the timely dystopian drama series is set in an eerily familiar 2037, where Norway has chosen to sever all ties with the rest of the world and grapples with isolation, identity, and global instability. Trailer Stayer –  ‘Best New Shows’ Selection…“Outstanding Cast” (Time Magazine) and “Beautiful, deep, intense, and fabulous hour drama” (ABC22) | Led by Aksel Hennie (The Martian, Sisu) – who also directs – this high-end drama follows an aging rock musician forced to rebuild his life—and rediscover purpose in music and fatherhood—after a personal tragedy. Trailer The Architect – “Vicious and funny” (The New York Times) | Starring Eili Harboe (Succession’s final season), this innovative, short-form dramedy is a smart, satirical take on ambition and survival in a broken housing market—blending bleak humor with incisive social commentary. Trailer Furia, Seasons 1 & 2 – “Jaw-clenchingly suspenseful… gripping and unpredictable.” (Foreign Crime Drama) | A high-stakes political thriller exploring the rise of extremism in Europe, combining intimate character drama with urgent geopolitical tension. Trailer Fenris - “Thoroughly engrossing” (The Wall Street Journal) and “A rarely explored world… an exceptional series.” (MovieWeb) | Directed by Simen Alsvik (Lilyhammer), this tense, atmospheric mystery unfolds in a remote forest community, where disappearances may be tied to both human secrets and wolves in the wild. Trailer Liv Ullmann: A Road Less Traveled – “Pure pleasure” (The Wall Street Journal) | A Cannes-selected docuseries on Liv Ullmann, featuring interviews with Cate Blanchett, Jessica Chastain, and John Lithgow—offering an intimate, star-studded portrait of one of the greatest European actresses of all-time and a window into Norway’s rich artistic legacy. Trailer Together, these series exemplify how Norway is operating at a world-class level—expanding beyond traditional Nordic noir into bold, globally resonant storytelling. Screeners are readily available for all titles.    About Viaplay: The Viaplay streaming service features thousands of hours of premium Nordic and European series and films from Scandinavia's largest and most recognized television/streaming platform. Viaplay’s US content offering focuses on the Nordic region’s high-quality and psychologically penetrating titles: from atmospheric and suspenseful crime dramas and provocative and stylish young adult series to award-winning dramas and riveting documentaries.
