Coming up on the Viaplay Poland add-on subscription channel, subscribers can look forward to a steady stream of series and films. Up first, following its recent Polish premiere at the BNP Paribas Warsaw SerialCon festival, the highly anticipated Polish comedy drama series Udar (The Stroke) starring Jacek Poniedziałek debuts on Tuesday, 17 December with all eight episodes available to binge.
After a stroke, Jacek (Jacek Poniedziałek) has to ask some tough questions, including: how do you fulfil your dreams after they’ve already come true? Jacek, a vibrant foodie, gay man, and Warsaw bon vivant, stars in his own popular TV food show. Surrounded by a cast of eccentric friends and harboring self-destructive tendencies, his life unfolds in a dramedy that playfully satirizes Poland’s artistic elite—those who see Warsaw as “the only real Polish city.”
Unlike anything else on television, this unique series is the brainchild of playwright and screenwriter Paweł Demirski. From the start, Demirski set out to create a character who defies the modern-day burnout culture—a wildly passionate figure who truly believes that the best is yet to come.
Gerald Biart, Viaplay Group, VP Partnership, Growth & Marketing: “With launches in the U.S., U.K., and Germany earlier this year on Prime Video Channels, Viaplay Content Distribution is thrilled to continue to expand this partnership with Viaplay’s availability as an add-on subscription in Poland. With Prime Video Channel’s user-friendly platform, Polish viewers can easily add-on the Viaplay SVOD channel to watch all their favorite international series and films, including Nordic series like The Bridge, Wisting and Gåsmamman and American series like S.W.A.T., NCIS: Hawaii, and The Good Doctor, as well as the upcoming exclusive debut of Polish comedy drama Udar (The Stroke).”
Vanda Rapti, Viaplay Group EVP, Viaplay Select & Content Distribution: “As previously announced, while Viaplay Group will focus on the Nordics and the Dutch market and exit Poland as a broad and leader in sports streamer in 2025, Viaplay Content Distribution will collaborate with partners through Viaplay Select and the SVOD channels in key markets to ensure our impressive international films and series inventory can continue to be viewed in other parts of the world. Poland will remain a key market for our content distribution business and our international SVOD channel. Furthermore, our film and series offering is currently available in the market through our existing partners and distribution means until mid-2025 and will continue after that via Prime Video Channels and other partners.”
Customers in Poland will have the opportunity to experience the Viaplay add-on subscription channel on Prime Video via Prime Video Channels starting with a free 7-day trial for eligible customers and no extra apps to download and no cable required.
