Who Shot Otto Mueller? – Suspenseful whodunit from Estonia
Thursday, February 13 – Exclusive US Premiere
A tense, character-driven and surprising whodunit that explores the deadly consequences of family secrets, betrayal, and revenge, all while testing the limits of loyalty and justice. Set at a stately country mansion, this high-end crime drama from Estonia is beautifully shot and features an unprecedented line-up of the country’s top creative talents. It received a ‘Best International Series’ nomination at Geneva International Film Festival.
Everyone has a story about Otto Mueller – and everyone has a motive. This riveting crime series follows Otto Mueller, a celebrated businessman and ex-Soviet wrestler who meets a grisly end on his 65th birthday and all his family members become the prime suspects. With each of the eight episodes offering a different suspect, motive, and their own account of the night, the question of who killed Otto is just the beginning. Detectives Agnes and Gabriel, who have just become partners, are thrust into their first high-profile case together, but their investigation quickly tests their own relationship. As they delve deeper into Otto’s complex family dynamics, long-buried secrets come to light, and personal boundaries begin to blur. Each episode focuses on a different family member, from Otto’s youngest son - a once-promising musician - to his ambitious mistress and distant wife. Soon dark truths about the successful and powerful man who once killed a wolf with his bare hands gradually start to come to light. With every new revelation, the detectives’ grasp on the truth weakens, as their personal stakes in the case grow higher.
