Murdering Love – True crime docuseries showing love’s dark side as passion turns deadly
Thursday, December 4 (two episodes at launch, then two episodes Dec. 11)
From an executive producer of hit documentary Surviving R. Kelly, this chilling new true crime documentary series from Viaplay charts the course of crimes from romance to ruin, where passion turns toxic, and love stories take a sinister turn. In Murdering Love, four wrenching real-life stories reveal how seemingly perfect romances spiral into obsession, betrayal and murder. Set in a different region each time — from the sweeping forest of Härjedalen and the quiet town of Värmland to Skåne’s windswept coast and the idyllic Åland Islands — every case shows how devotion can so easily become devastation.
Through candid interviews, detailed police files and shocking reconstructions, the series retraces each journey from falling in love to its fatal fallout. Investigators, witnesses and surviving family members expose red flags, hidden motives and chilling evidence that finally brings these killers to justice.
In collaboration with investigative journalist John Mork (Under the Radar, The Bunker), Murdering Love is a sobering exploration of when the heart’s deepest desires turn deadly.
Episodes:
· Maj and Åke - Maj meets Åke at a salon in Östersund and they begin a secret romance. But when they go public, jealousy turns love into a deadly plan.
· Johan and Emmelie - Johan meets Emmelie at the tavern, and not long after, they are married and have a child together. But then life takes a turn and they become bitter enemies – and it ends with a brutal murder.
· Stefan and Jens - Stefan and Jens meet online. They fall in love at first sight and immediately move in together, but somewhere along the way their love becomes dangerous. Suddenly, both of them are missing, and neither can be found.
· Bengt and Kicki - Every year Bengt and Kicki go to Malung to dance – but this year there will be no trip. After being married for 30 years, the wife is found lifeless in his home. The case divides the small community and leaves everyone with more questions than answers.

SPOTLIGHT: TIMELY DOCUMENTARY

The Wolf War – Current Affairs Docuseries
Exclusive U.S. Premiere
Thursday, December 18
The Wolf War is a gripping new documentary series from Viaplay exploring one of Scandinavia’s most explosive and divisive conflicts – the killing of wolves. Journalist and host Anders Kvaal ventures deep into the heart of the fierce and often lawless battle over wolves in Scandinavia – a conflict that has torn communities apart and ignited a war between conservationists and hunters. With unprecedented access to both sides, Kvaal exposes the hidden networks, dangerous ideologies and shadowy power struggles that fuel this ongoing fight.
Every year, during the wolf hunting season, the deep forests of Norway and Sweden are swarming with hunters, activists, and police. The hunters see the wolf as a bloodthirsty beast and a threat to people living in the area. The activists see the hunt as an unfair slaughter of a beautiful animal. Kill or protect, both sides are willing to go extremely far to achieve their goal.
Through tense encounters and rare insider interviews, the series reveals more than just a dispute on wildlife, but a battle of identity, survival and belief. It uncovers a tale of threats, harassment, and clandestine organized networks, where money, power, and high-stakes politics lurk behind the scenes, shaping the fate of all involved. Raw, powerful and unflinching, The Wolf War takes you to the frontline of Europe’s most controversial wildlife battle.

The five-part, award-winning drama series features high-stakes deals, groundbreaking innovation, and fierce family rivalries. With a fast-paced, cinematic approach, the series follows the rise of a visionary disruptor who turned family feuds into a media empire that reshaped Nordic TV and inspired global players as well as the personal sacrifices behind power.
At 35, Jan Stenbeck (Jakob Oftebro, Black Crab, Agent Hamilton, Kon-tiki) appears to have it all: a prestigious career at Morgan Stanley, a glamorous life in New York City, and a budding romance with American socialite Merrill McCloud (Zoe Boyle, Downton Abbey, Frontier). But when tragedy strikes his family in Sweden, he is thrust into a leadership role at Kinnevik, the family’s esteemed industrial group.
What follows is a high-stakes battle between tradition and innovation, as Jan’s visionary ideas clash with his siblings’ conservative approach (Malin Crépin as sister Margaretha). His relentless ambition reshapes the Nordic media and telecom landscape - breaking Sweden’s telephone monopoly and launching TV3, Scandinavia’s first commercial channel. His bold strategies don’t just transform the Nordic market, they influence global players, inspiring Rupert Murdoch’s Sky TV model and laying the groundwork for Vodafone’s rise.
However, his meteoric ascent comes at a cost. Haunted by loneliness and strained family ties, Jan’s life is as tumultuous as it is transformative. Vanguard is the story of a visionary who revolutionized modern media but paid a personal price for his groundbreaking impact.

Thursday, December 25
Pillar of truth or a stone-cold fake?
The fast-paced documentary series follows the journey of Fargo and Prison Break actor Peter Stormare and history enthusiast Elroy Balgaard as they set out to solve the mystery surrounding the Kensington Runestone – an artifact that, if proven authentic, will rewrite the history of North America.
In 1898, Swedish immigrant Olof Ohman claimed to have found a runestone in Minnesota, left by Viking explorers more than two centuries before Columbus arrived in North America. Stormare travels through Minnesota to discover whether it’s time for history to be rewritten. Born in the same region of Sweden as Olof Ohman, Stormare meets scholars, sceptics and sensationalists on a deeply personal and often humorous journey that leaves no stone unturned.
