SPOTLIGHT: DRAMA
Bullshit – Powerful award-winning biker drama series
Thursday, January 30 – Exclusive US Premiere
INTERVIEW OPPS: Leads, actor and singer Alba August (Becoming Astrid, The Congregation) and award-winning actor Marco Ilsø (Vikings)
Based on acclaimed book Bullshit: The Story of a Family by Camilla Stockmann and Janus Køster-Rasmussen and inspired by true events, the multi-award-winning series garnered wins at the 2024 Geneva International Film Festival 2024 for ‘Best Series’ and at the Danish Series Awards 2024 for ‘Best Miniseries’, ‘Best Direction,’ and ‘Best Acting Performance’ for Marco Ilsø.
Bullshit tells the powerful story of a group of lost and rebellious youths in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s. What starts out as joining of a community of like-minded souls in the hardcore biker gang Bullshit, leads to a world of brutal conflict. The drama series delves into the darkly exciting, but dangerous world of bikers as a passionate love story unfolds.
Acclaimed actor and singer Alba August (The Congregation) stars as Pia, a determined 16-year-old who summons up the courage to finally leave her difficult family. Taking with her just 100 Kroner and the desire to be part of a community, she meets Henning aka Mackerel (Marco Ilsø – Vikings). He’s 18 and has turned his back on the polite society to follow his dreams of brotherhood, freedom and motorcycles, leading him to the biker gang he sees as his family. The pair embarks on a wild love-affair as the ambitious Mackerel is determined to climb the ranks of Bullshit, whatever the cost.
Life seems good, but a bloody war with the Hells Angels is about to change everything. (Six Episodes, Danish with English subtitles.)
SPOTLIGHT: TRUE CRIME
The Bunker – Shocking, must watch true crime docuseries
Thursday, January 16 – Exclusive US Premiere
INTERVIEW OPP: Producer John Mork (Under the Radar)
With echoes of the notorious Austrian Josef Fritzl case that sent shockwaves around the world, this chilling new true-crime documentary sheds light on an unimaginable crime: a young Swedish woman, Isabel Eriksson, drugged and kidnapped by a doctor on their second date. Surviving the torturous abduction, the heroic woman confronts her past trauma in this unflinching new series.
In 2015, following a date with Dr. Martin Trenneborg, Isabel woke up in a bunker that the doctor had spent years building. He planned to keep her and other women locked up in this horrific place and although Isabel survived the terrifying ordeal, she is still haunted to this day. Battling PTSD, Isabel bravely faces her fears as she revisits her past and tries to come to terms with what the vile kidnapper did to her.
The Bunker is a stark exploration of survival and a testament to the indomitable human spirit.
