Trailer

Listen Up! aka Hør her'a! is an award-winning coming-of-age comedy feature that follows the life and challenges of Mahmoud, a teenager growing up in an immigrant community just outside Oslo. The film is based on a bestselling young adult novel by Gulraiz Sharif and is directed by Norwegian-Iranian filmmaker Kaveh Tehrani. We join Mahmoud, played in a stellar performance by newcomer Mohammed Ahmed, at the start of the summer holidays as he deals with family challenges, finding love and his never a dull moment neighbourhood. When his Uncle Ji (Two-time BAFTA nominee Asim Chaudhry, People Just Do Nothing) visits for the first time from Pakistan, not only does Mahmoud have to guide his uncle around the city, but he must also teach him about a life he doesn’t understand. Then, in the middle of it all, Mahmoud discovers that his little brother Ali has a secret that will turn his whole life upside down.

With heaps of humour and a wealth of colourful characters, the film tackles important themes, including family, culture, gender identity and belonging, in a unique, affecting and hugely entertaining way.

Ace of Base: All That She Wants – Fascinating music docuseries

Monday, 18 November – Exclusive UK Premiere (Full Series x 3 Episodes)

Trailer

Interviews available with band members Ulf Ekberg and Jenny Berggren

Anyone in the UK who was old enough to listen to music in the ‘90s knew who Ace of Base were. They weren’t just a pop band, they were a cultural phenomenon and now, a brand-new uncensored documentary– Ace of Base: All That She Wants – shares the warts-and-all story of one of Sweden's most successful pop bands’ rise and fall. This fascinating music docuseries gets its UK Premiere exclusively on Viaplay on 18 November.

Their first album – Happy Nation – was released in 1993 and is still, to this day, the biggest debut album of all time, with sales of more than 25 million copies. The pop quartet that no one believed in became, thanks to super hits like All That She Wants and The Sign, an international music success story. A testament to their popularity and staying power, the band have around 10 million monthly listeners on Spotify and All That She Wants has more than 456 million streams.

But behind their accomplishments lay deep darkness that saw Ulf Ekberg threatened by right-wing extremists, Jenny Berggren attacked by a German fan in her home and then disagreements over songs and money that eventually led to their demise.

Featuring private never-before-seen home movie footage and intimate diaries, this three-part series tells the fascinating tale of how three siblings –  Jonas, Jenny and Malin Berggren and their friend Ulf Ekberg – became Sweden's third biggest pop export after Abba and Roxette and how their grandiose pop dreams, chart success and money collided with relentless adversity, performance anxiety and shattered friendships.

All that we want is to watch this documentary yeah-eh.

English and Swedish with subtitles.
