SPOTLIGHT: FILM OF THE MONTH
Gold Run
Tuesday, May 7 - Exclusive US Premiere
The most successful and streamed Viaplay Original feature film of all time
The Nordic’s most successful and streamed Viaplay Original film of all time is based on the extraordinary true story of a group of unlikely resistance fighters who smuggled Norway's gold reserves out of the country ahead of invading Nazi forces. The acclaimed film features a top tier Nordic cast led by Jon Øigarden (Exit), Sven Nordin (lead in hit Nordic Noir Wisting), Axel Bøyum (Delete Me, Headhunters), Thorbjørn Harr (Berlin Film Festival hit Sex), and Ida Elise Broch (Fenris, Lilyhammer).
During World War II, a WW2 top-secret mission shaped a nation's destiny. In April 1940, German soldiers descended upon Oslo with three targets: the King, the government and Norway's gold reserves. Within a few hours, parliamentary secretary Fredrik Haslund brings together an unlikely team, including his sister, bankers, truck drivers, and a famous poet. Their mission is to move 50 tons of gold across the country to reach an Allied shipping convoy, outsmarting and evading the approaching Nazi forces. (Feature Film, Norwegian w/English subtitles)
